The trail starts from the town of Te Anau and makes its way up the valley towards the mountain. At first it is easy going with gentle slopes and plenty of room for you to get out and enjoy yourself.

You may however need to take a short break to get the blood moving, as the terrain here is steep and rocky and can be quite difficult to traverse.
