If you’ve ever visited the South Island of New Zealand, you’ll know about Lake To Lake trail Te Anau. It is not only one of the most popular hiking trails in the country, it’s also one of the longest. Not only does it encompass the entire area surrounding the lake, it’s also well-connected to some of the best mountain bike rides in the country and a great starting point for those looking to see the sights of the region.
Power Up: Lake 2 Lake Trail, Te Anau
With stunning views of the countryside and rolling hills, this trek through the bush is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit in a completely new way. The trail starts from the town of Te Anau and makes its way up the valley towards the mountain. At first it is easy going with gentle slopes and plenty of room for you to get out and enjoy yourself.
You may however need to take a short break to get the blood moving, as the terrain here is steep and rocky and can be quite difficult to traverse. After you’ve done this, you can start making your way up the mountain with the guidance of a map that gives you the correct route. It also helps to have some help as you may encounter some trouble along the way.
